Apple's Infringement Suit Against Nokia

United States International Trade Commission (ITC) announced Monday, will Nokia v Apple's patent infringement case investigation.

Nokia on December 29, 2009 to the ITC proceedings, claiming that almost all of Apple's products are infringing its patents, and demanded that the U.S. ban on imports of apple production from China, iPhone, iPod and Mac computers. Apple is in the middle of this month, Nokia filed counterclaims, the same request to the ITC issued a ban on imports of Nokia mobile phones, ITC is still considering whether to investigate the case.



Nokia and legal disputes between Apple began in October last year, Nokia was suing Apple for violating its 10 patents, and requested the Apple iPhone on sale in back since 2007 has owed royalties. Since then, both sides began to accuse each other of violating its patents.

Nokia's in the indictment, said: "Apple's many innovations come from Nokia's first invention and patented technology. Apple's unauthorized use of Nokia's and Apple's long-term behavior of the invention of the company's traditional line."

Apple spokesman declined to comment on the ITC's decision.

Apple filed a counterclaim against Nokia, Apple hopes to suspend the U.S. Nokia mobile phones and other electronic equipment imports, which also include the use of Symbian OS smartphone. Apple said that Nokia infringed in the electronic devices Apple's software and hardware patents.

Gartner analyst Ken Dulaney said: "Both sides in chess, waiting for the other to retreat, or the courts. This is a contest between lawyers brinkmanship."

Apple reported a Monday, in the year ended December 26 of the 2010 fiscal year first quarter, the company's Mac computers sold 336 million units, iPhone sales of 8.7 million, iPod sales of 21 million; to achieve a net profit of 3.38 billion U.S. dollars, sales revenue of 15.7 billion U.S. dollars.
