I was single mom working 2 jobs trying to raise 2 kids when I got my pell grant for school. My kids were 8 and 4 at the time and were both in school. They are now much older, at the time they were 8 and 4. I was like many other single parents working 2 jobs. I worked a regular 9-5 job and also worked every other weekend when they were visiting the other side of their families.

Looking on line I decided that it would be a very good idea to sign up for some classes at a local community college so that I could have some kind of chance of not having to work myself to death for the rest of my life trying to make sure these kids have everything that they need. I did a simple search on line to look for grants. I had no idea there were so many things out there about it and so many people trying to go back to school them self! What got to me is that every other thing i found on line was something I had to "pay" a small shipping fee for the information, then they were going to stick me with some ridiculous $40 a month fee. Just for them to tell me how to find a grant myself.

Guess what? You do not need that. Not at all. You are very capable of going to the FAFSA government website and right there, for free from the comfort of your own home you can start an application for the Pell Grant. You don't have to pay anyone at all, this is completely free. Just go there and fill it out.

I have to admit that there were parts of the process that seemed intimidating to me. For instance you have to put in a school code for the school that you want to go to. I had no idea where to get this information for the local community colleges. I wanted to pick a community college because of the low tuition, there is more of a chance that the grant will cover all of the expenses. But all that amounted to was a phone call to the school to tell them what I was doing and asking them for the code.

That was it, by myself I was able to find the application for the FAFSA, fill out the form, and submit. They even sent the information to the school for me so all I had to do was go to the school and register for my classes.

You can do it. Whether your a single mom, or single dad! You can get a grant for school for free, it's all here for us.
