Student Loans Without Cosigner
For students who don't have a good credit history (most of them), it can be difficult to get a student loan. The answer to this is to apply for a student loan that doesn't have a credit check. These student loans, also known as student loans without cosigner, can help a student pay for the education they need without all the fuss of worrying about credit history.
The best no cosigner student loan out there in America is the federal student loan. This is a loan that has no credit check requirement and thus no cosigner requirement. You can have the worst credit possible and still easily qualify for the federal loan for students. Because there is no credit requirement, practically anyone (who is an American citizen and has a SSN) can qualify for a federal loan.
So if you don't have good credit history or you have no credit history at all, the first loan you should apply for is the federal student loan.
Sometimes federal loans don't provide you with enough funding to pay for college. In this case, you will need to have the rest of your financial needs supplemented from other sources - work, parents, scholarships, grants, etc. However, if you still need money, you may need to look at getting a private student loan.
Private student loans are credit check student loans, however. That means if you don't have good credit, you are going to need a cosigner to sign for you. If you don't have a cosigner, it's going to be very difficult to get a private student loan. You might be able to get the cosigner condition waived if you are willing to pay higher interest -- but this usually doesn't happen.
You might want to consider looking at taking out a personal line of credit or some sort of personal loan. If you can find a way to make the minimum payments on these loans (say by working part time), you might be able to use these to help pay for the rest of your education.
