Utilizing Twitter in conjunction with your blog is quickly becoming one of the best and easiest ways to increase traffic to your blog. The way it works is very simple. Each time you receive a post to your blog a "tweet" is made to your Twitter account. This means that everyone of your "followers" will get that tweet, in real-time. No matter what size your following is, you will at minimum double the exposure of that post. Can you see the possibilities?

As I'm sure you already are aware, Twitter is a social bookmarking site that can send short messages of 140 characters or less to hundreds, thousands or millions of people within seconds. The best way to define it is that it's a "micro blogging" tool. When Twitter first arrived a few years ago it quickly became popular as a way to communicate with your friends or family. Over the past two years it has emerged as a commercial tool used by home, small and large companies. Even the President has a Twitter account.

As a home business owner or affiliate marketer this is where you come in. Twitter can be used to communicate with your customer base or "followers," sending them many different types of messages. What you don't want to do is alienate your followers by sending them strictly promotional information. This will make you very unpopular and your follower base will diminish. Twitter marketing is much more subtle and that's where your blog comes into play.

How is this possible? It's actually very simple. All you need to do, if you haven't already, is first create a Twitter account with a theme that is commensurate with you blog's niche. Next install the "Twitter Tools" plugin, (Make sure it's the free plugin from Alex King.) This plugin will allow you to create a tweet each time you or someone posts to your blog and you can also configure it to display all of the tweets you have on your Twitter account.

What happens is that each blog tweet goes out to your follower's list. The larger your list the broader the exposure of the post. This is pure viral marketing at it's best. There isn't any spamming because all of your followers have signed up to get messages from you. This is pure organic traffic.

If you are seeing the possibilities of this you can push it even further by utilizing some Twitter Tools that will even automate your Twitter process of finding free followers. This is slightly more detailed so I would suggest that you check out our information at www.twittasaurus.com.

If you don't have a Twitter account, get one now and start getting a landslide of traffic for free. By the way you can follow us, on Twitter, at www.twitter.com/HBRHomeBusiness
