Today we think of social networking as the act of expanding the number of people we know in order to develop our social circles and business activities. The internet meant that we did not have to be able to physically meet a person to establish contact with them or to continue the relationship " everything can be done online and relationships can develop and flourish there. Social networking sites today permit people to search for and link up with others who have the same interests and goals without ever leaving their homes.

Now, before you start thinking that business social networking sites are worry free tools in promoting your business, bear in mind that not all networking sites as what they claim to be.In other words, not all networking sites are good for your business so do not just join any of these sites. To find a good social networking site, take the time to do some research and read reviews.Make sure that you join a site where you can meet like minded people who are willing to share their expertise.

MySpace is pretty much fading out because of the simplicity of Facebook in comparison. MySpace is more of a sort of personal website than Facebook is which is why some still prefer it. Facebook on the other hand only takes a few seconds to log on and write back to messages or write a wall post and there is a live feed that tells you what all of your friends have done recently on their Facebook account. Twitter is much more simplistic and yet has really caught on because its main premise is to allow people to let others know what they are doing during the day or night.

In 145 characters or less a person can type in what they want to say and it allows for faster updates to those who are following them. It is quickly gaining in popularity and is assumed to beat out Facebook in no time. There are problems that people are concerned with when it comes to the social networking sites however. Social networking sites are super popular and certainly have a lot to offer.
