If you have purchased a home that seems run-of-the-mill and without much character, you may want to make some changes. It can be a big and expensive commitment to turn a home into a work of art. You may consider yourself as a person with minimal style, and it can be tough to make up your mind. In order to save cost and make sure you do not make rash style decisions you later regret, consider adding just a few changes that pack a powerful punch. There are design choices that can stand alone, and even if you never add another thing to the room, you will still have created a unique, stylish environment. Changes can include a pop of color, an unexpected piece of art, or a unique take on something that would otherwise be in the room. For instance, you can choose copper vessel sinks for all or one of your bathrooms. Copper bathrooms sinks are unique and provide added style and still work as well as their porcelain counterparts. While the item is expected, the color and styling are unique, creating a space that stands out and makes a statement.

Color can also be used to create a unique space. Instead of choosing simple neutrals in a room, add unexpected, bright, bold color. You can create a look that is all your own with color. If the space makes you feel good and brings you happiness, that is all that matters. Some people have a tough time using bold color. Start small and take baby steps. You may find just a bit of brightness is all that is needed. From there, you are able to make color choices that continue to create a room that is your own personal style.

You can choose one item as inspiration for the whole room. If you find decision making is tough, find just one accessory that you love and go from there. A simple swatch of fabric, a pillow, or a small sculpture can set the tone for the entire space.

If the challenge is not overdoing it, it may be time to pare down. Some people are so full of ideas they overdo it. It is important to keep design under control. This way, there is an obvious theme and the space is controlled.

If you are using a bold color, tone down your amount of furniture. If you have bold furniture with a lot of pattern, neutral colors are an option. Finding balance is a space is one of the best ways to create a unique look that is stylish.
