As a college student, it can be pretty challenging to find a place to store your items while you move between apartments or while you are away for a long period of time from your place. Personal storage units are not at all similar to a Texas Contract Warehouse and even more different from a California Contract Warehouse, for example, because each state is different. Also, personal and business storage units are always varying in size and the needs of each type of client. So, as a college student, it is very essential to be aware of your options in order to find the best place for you to keep your things. When moving from apartment to apartment, the last thing you want is to have a storage place that gives you too much hassle. Below is a list of things to consider when you are trying to find a storage unit for your items:

1. Cost is one of the most important factors for anyone in school who is looking for a storage unit. You want to make sure that the rate you are given is a monthly rate for two reasons. The first reason is that you do not want to get yourself put into a rental agreement for a year, which can happen, depending on the company. The second reason is that if it is weekly rate, the price of the unit can be misleading and they can add up very quickly.

2. You want to be sure to choose a location that is in close proximity to your new apartment. When you move in, you could need to rent a vehicle and you want to use as few miles as possible, so the rental vehicle is not so costly. Also, it makes the move much less slowly when you do not have to go too far to get your things from storage.

3. You also want to check the hours that you can have access to the storage unit. If the selected area is only open during regular business hours, you would be restricted to moving during those times whether you finish moving or not.

4. As always, you need to make sure there is plenty of security around the storage property that you choose. Storage units are pretty much constant targets chosen by thieves because people put somewhat valuable items in the units. Good security usually means there are cameras and a security system all over the premises of the storage property. And obviously, you should be positive to have a good lock on your own unit.

5. Finally, it is a good idea to make sure that the staff of the storage place is courteous and helpful to you during your move. Moving can be a stressful time in one's life, so if something goes wrong with your unit or if you need help with something extra it is nice to have people that are kind when it comes to your needs.

It is absolutely essential to take all of these factors into consideration when selecting a personal storage unit if you want to be at least somewhat satisfied with your moving experience. Hopefully, if you can be sure to satisfy each one of these items, then you should have a relatively trouble-free move.
