Cohesion is not only effective in team sports. While teamwork is a concept well known primarily in sports, a cohesive team is just as important in any other field. Due to this, companies that wish to maximize their success, and those who do succeed, tend to be tight knit groups. A single person cannot be expected to successfully run an organization all by himself, no matter how skilled or smart he or she is. Ultimately, teams that are cohesive will be the biggest factor in success.

Now that the value of teams has been established, how are teams strengthened? One of the most popular and effective ways is through team building courses. Thus, let us take a look at the many forms team building takes.

Team building has been here a long time, and has proven to be effective in improving team relations. There are many ways to encourage team building, and one such way is by holding team building workshops. A company could either hire an outside team building consultant or it could be any member of their staff, but the point in these workshops is to explain clearly the ways to effectively act in a team. These seminars usually discuss how to successfully blend in with a team while still maintaining a voice in the group's decisions. However, there are also fun activities to be found in a team building seminar. Some choose fun activities that may not seem to have anything to do with how to do a job, but actually imparts lessons more important than the ones that could be gained from any lecture. For this reason alone, team building workshops are a big part of any thriving company.

Not all team building courses must be held in classrooms, though. Having a diverse workforce has forced companies to look at different ways of teaching teamwork, and the result is very unique activities that build on the same principles. An example of this is when companies select hiking as a great team building activity. There might be no "work talk" on these trips, but the employees certainly apply the lessons they learn here to their everyday tasks. Even more unique are activities like paintball tournaments or scavenger hunts that businesses do now. There is therefore no doubt that team building workshops are not necessarily held in classrooms anymore.

The globalization of the common workplace means teams are formed with much more frequency now. Work is becoming bigger and bigger, and so teams are built to cope with these increases. A close team will be able to solve more problems more efficiently, so teams now are understandably valued.
