If you have any old MAGLITE's laying around, what I'd suggest to do is convert them to an LED, using a Maglite LED conversion kit. Outlined below is a terribly simple way of doing all your own LED Conversions right at home.

It is terribly straightforward to upgrade your old Maglite to LED, all you really have to try and do is replace the halogen bulb with a MAG-LED module.

Pretty easy right?

It really is, the only factor you actually have to be aware of is to make positive you bought the right module.

The main upgrade kits are for C or D size flashlights, that come in 2 cell, 3 cell, or 4 cell length.

The ease of this transfer has something to do with the old halogen lamps being similar in size to the LED units. Thus making it a good fit.

A very important factor to remember is that you want to make positive that you do not buy the incorrect conversion kit. Each battery size has a different kit to go with it, if you get the incorrect one you are going to overdrive, or possible undersink the LED. This will damage your Maglite, and I don't think you want to do that The advantages to doing this Maglite led conversion, is two fold:

- First off, you will get a more durable MAGLITE, because the LED is very well built, and isn't going to shatter on an impact.

- Secondly, the battery lifetime of your newly upgraded maglite is going to be considerably longer, so, you will have to buy less batteries, or recharge them less often, all in all, that is a very good thing - More time to play with it.

So as you can see, there isn't anything really preventing you from upgrading; its simple, its safe ( as long as you follow the proper instructions), and it creates a much superior MAGLITE, that is going to last for a lot longer.
