He had the opportunity to pursue a number of career paths in his earlier years. He had a passion for baseball, nature and could have been a zoologist or a paleontologist. He clearly has a love for animals and wildlife, which can be seen in his paintings. Almost every piece in his portfolio evolves around nature and the beauty of the earth and its creation.
He has in time pasted been selected for 13 Society of Illustrators Annual Shows, which is a great achievement. He has frequently displayed his paintings in Communication Arts Annuals, Expose, Spectrum, Applied Arts and even the Encyclopedia of Airbrush Techniques. His digital work can also be found in recent graphic design publications for photoshop users. He has had a number of articles written about him in the following publications, The New York Times, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Manchester Union Leader, Concord Monitor, The New Yorker, New Hampshire Magazine, and in Airbrush Action Magazine, where he is a regular contributor.
Jerry has had the pleasure of being awarded a prestigious medal at the Society of Illustrators (L.A) 32nd Exhibition. He has also received awards for the best advertising in vol I,II and VI of Spectrum. He received a lifetime achievement award in illustration for his outstanding and dedicated contribution to the airbrush industry. He was also awarded The Grand Master Award from Ballistic Publishing's "Expose", which is a display of the years best digital works from 2007. He was also awarded a Gold Medal from The Society of Illustrators of New York in the advertising category of illustrators.
Jerry's visuals really do speak for themself, in terms of quality, passion, vibrance and sheer remarkable skill. In fact, his work has been filmed and documented on DVD tutorials, to give young illustrators an insight into his work ethic and practice.
There are a number of pieces of Jerry's which interest me, not just for there display of vibrance and colour, but for my appreciation of the overall concept.
