Windows Password Reset Explained
People generally use a password on their computer to stop unwanted users from accessing the applications on it. This password also stops people, other than the administrator, from installing computer applications on the machine.
Don't drive yourself insane trying to remember your password. Take some time out and try again the next day. If you still can't remember it, think hard about all of the possibilities. Also try to think about any places where you might have recorded the password.
If you can still get into the computer, you might want to try performing a system recovery. Put it back to a date that is prior to when you changed the password last.
Password recovery tools are readily available on the web. Many of these are free and they have been designed so that they are easy for anyone to use. You need to be careful with these though, especially if you are running Windows XP, because they can cause you to lose data.
There are password cracking tools that run off of a floppy disk drive. When you download the program onto the floppy, it creates a boot disk, meaning you start your computer up while the disk is in the computer. These programs search your computer and then rewrite the password so you can regain access.
Do not worry too much if your password is forgotten or lost. Many simple and free tools exist that will help you reset your WIndows password.
