Going on a road trip is a great way to see a country inexpensively. A road trip means a lot of planning and spontaneity. During a road trip consider choosing a general direction and selecting some of the places to stop along the way. During a road trip ask for each member to nominate one thing you really want to do, and plan your direction around these.

When it comes to accommodation during a road trip it is best travel with a tent. You can always have the option of checking into a hostel or motel if the weather is inclement during a road trip. Have some information with you, such a map or a travel guide to give you some more road trip ideas to visit or do.

It's important to have snacks in the car, but think carefully about what you want to eat on a road trip. Water and juice are usually good options. During a road trip pick snacks less likely to make a mess, make sure drinks have resealable lids, pack baby wipes and plastic bags for the inevitable spillage. Stock up on pillows and quilts for a comfortable back-seat experience during a road trip.

Three or four people is an ideal number to go with on a road trip in terms of budget. If there are more than four, get a van or take two cars for the road trip. Be aware that the more people you have with you, the less you're likely to see during a road trip.

Travelling with children during a road trip can be a fantastic or difficult experience. A great road trip idea is to prepare for it. Another road trip idea is to consider how far you can get each day, about where you can stop during a day's road trip. Pack a bunch of simple toys to keep the kids occupied is a good road trip idea.

Make sure you see what you want to see during a road trip and leave some space in your itinerary for spontaneous decisions while on a road trip. Have a good time during a road trip!
