Two things served cold on a platter of misfortune; suicide and depression. These things can touch anyone, and no one is outside their reach. Sometimes it may seem easier for the cheerless to just give up. - suicide depression

It may be asked, what is depression? What is suicide? Do and how do these things affect the world around us? They very much do, there is not much explanation needed for that. How can I go about taking care of someone who has thoughts of suicide?

So what causes depression? Depression can happen to anyone and can be caused by a host of things. It could be as simple as a break up with your first ex or as complicated as a poor quality childhood. It also has chemical causes in the brain as well, with the chemical serotonin. Serotonin acts as what I'd like to call "happy juice" and people with depression are without a lot of happy juice.

A major epidemic in America is suicide. An increasing number of people are dieing from suicide related deaths. Depression is the top cause for suicide.

Although the figures tend to change from gender and race, everyone can be a victim. No matter from what household or what financial status one could become depressed. Older people have the highest successful rates of suicide, whilst males are more keen to succeed than females.

If you or someone you know is suicidal you should seek professional help for them. No matter what the age or gender, it is not a healthy train of thought in the least. Do not see it as an attempt for attention and that they won't try.

There is a clear link between the two. Depression is the door to suicide, although not everyone steps through. Whether or not someone is male, female, old, or young depression could happen. Just as that could happen, so could suicide.
