More people than ever are looking to save money on any of their expenses possible. Many are also interested in helping the environment as well. There are many ways to do both such as cutting down on your electrical consumption, reusing the things you buy and using green diy energy, just to name a few.

You can start by looking at your home carefully and determining where money could be saved. There are often ways to reduce the amount spent on energy. For example, is your home well insulated? Do you have energy efficient lights and appliances? You can do an inventory of your energy efficiency to figure out where improvements can be made.

There are ways that you can cut back on the electricity that you purchase as well as becoming more environmentally friendly. For example, you can invest in green renewable energy resources. There are some utility companies that are now using at least some power generated by natural methods such as wind or water. However, there are sometimes surcharges associated with using these.

Alternatively, you can install natural methods yourself, such as solar panels, wind turbines or magnets. This gives you a constantly renewable way to generate power. These types of method can be professionally installed or you can do it yourself. If you want to do it yourself, you can either go to a home improvement store and get a ready to install kit or you can put it together yourself. The latter will be cheaper but will entail a bit more work on your part.

If you do install these types of energy generators, there are tax write offs you may be eligible to receive. If you do a good job with the installation, and also with all the other energy efficiency improvements you make, you may also be able to increase the value of your home.

Another area where you can reduce expenses and the negative effects on the environment is with your car. Hybrid vehicles are one method of doing this. Another is using ethanol to power your car. There are several cars on the market that have this ability already so you should look at the manual to see if you already have one. Ethanol is a resource that is renewable and usually cheaper than gas.

Making improvements to your energy consumption as well as substituting renewable ways of generating it will take some investment of both time and money. Once you do make this investment, however, you should start seeing some decreased expenses.
