Finding A Really Good Bumper Sticker for A Really Bad Driver
Do you like to collect and talk about favorite bumper stickers? My friends and I do. Sometimes, we've even been known to put these stickers on cars we think need them.
Let's take one example. My dad is a really, really aggressive driver, and you can see the "brace marks" my mother has left on the passenger side of the car during my dad's speed races down the highway. To that end, she bought a bumper sticker that said, "If I pass you on the right, guess what? You're in the wrong lane."
Usually, I drive automatic, but this year I got a car that has a stick shift. Friends dutifully christened that car with a bumper sticker that read, "I'm driving stick, and we are on a hill. Do you really want to be this close to me?"
Bumper stickers can make great birthday gifts, too. I like a funny one that gets laughs and says, "I like my insanity; I'm not bothered by it."
We got my friends kids car a sticker that read "I didn't say it was your fault I just said I would blame it on you" cause we all know how great teenagers are at deflecting the blame.
When my best friend got me a particularly pointed bumper sticker, I got her one that said, "Don't tell me to go take my medicine. I did already."
My boyfriend is the aforementioned aggressive driver, and as a result, he's been in some pretty decent accidents. He has a bumper sticker on his car, placed there upside down, which says, "If you can read this, I've already been in a crash."
I smiled at a bumper sticker that I saw at the light the other day when I read it "It's not my fault I just do whatever the little voices tell me to"
There was a company vehicle in front of me that was travelling at a snail?s pace that had one that said "I get paid by the hour so NO, I won't speed up"
We were discussing cute bumper stickers that we remembered while eating lunch at work the other day and some of the most memorable ones included "I'm currently distracted by a shiny object" "I may be slow but I am still ahead of you", "I'm just driving this way to make you mad"
Other really good ones include, "The idiots who are following me are really impatient," and, "I've lost a lot of things, but I miss my mind the most."
Not everybody is happy that we just go around sticking bumper stickers here and there on cars. It's not a good thing to do, for example, if your mother doesn't want you to do that; I did, and hers read, "If you think I'm a bad driver, you should just see my mother's driving." She might not like it, but those who ride with her might think differently.
Of course, a lot of drivers are also impatient, and it's sometimes been fun to have my teenagers hold bumper stickers up in front of the back window for those drivers that read something to the effect of, "If you pass, just wait. I'll still see you at the next stoplight." Sometimes drivers smile at that at and it's better than doing something really rude.
"Yes I see you back there, and no I don't care"
"You mean you're running late? Too bad; next time, leave earlier."
"Your kid might be an honor roll student but you drive like an idiot."
"Wave with your whole hand, not just one finger"
"Remember that you're driving a car, not a restaurant, phone booth, cosmetology training center, et cetera. So DRIVE, already!"
I'd like to give bumper stickers to my kids for them to give to their friends when they get their licenses, both as a president and as a way to say, "Good job!" It lets these kids know someone's thinking of them and brings a smile to their faces. A daughter's friend drives a car that's literally held together with duct tape, so she gave him a bumper sticker that said, "If you hit me, I'm sunk; I'll pay more for the deductible than I did for the car."
Another one that made my daughter laugh and she thought was quite good for a friend who had a bit of trouble the first time she took the test was "I failed my driving test 6 times, if you don't back up you'll see why"
She also got a kick out of one that read "Zero to sixty in 15 minutes" to give to a friend that decided to go with a scooter for an economical vehicle to get back and forth to school.
Bumper stickers are a great way to get a laugh, express yourself and a cheap way to say hello to a friend. There are as many different slogans for bumper stickers as there are people in the world and there is bound to be one that perfectly matches everyone you know.
