The out bursts of piracy covers 3 separate outbursts of rebellion. The Buccaneering period which was about 1650-1680 and characterized by the Anglo-French seamen that was based in Jamaica and Tortuga when the pirates attacked Spanish colonies and shipping in the Caribbean and East Pacific. The second row of 1690 was associated with the long voyages from Bermuda and the America's to rob Muslim and east India company targets the Indian Ocean and red sea.
The Hawaiian are known for their Koa wood canoes that were extremely hard and heavy. But inducing small fires to clear out the trunk and form the canoe. Some say that the earliest development of the boat was some 45,000 years ago. The earliest known reference to an organization devoted to ship building was in ancient India.
Boats were developed with new techniques during the historical maritime years. They were developed gradually from modified dugouts that were created from the bronze age. Egyptian boats displayed log constructed techniques where short planks or balks of timber were bolted from each edge making up the hull. Framing and planking were the most basic forms that made up wooden boats.
Navigation originated in on the river Indus some five thousand years ago. The astrolabe was the chief tool of Celestial navigation in early maritime. Not surprisingly invented in ancient Greece and developed into practical use by the Islamic astronomers.
Sails were outdated by steam, soon it was steam that was superseded by diesel- driven ships in the second half of 20th century. In 1900 internal combustion engine and gas turbine replaced steam engine in most ships. Trans-oceanic travel, transatlantic and trans-pacific was particularly important application with steam powered ocean liners to replace sailing ships allowing for faster travel. Which in turn culminate the massive Super liners including the RMS Titanic.
The discovery of True North was an amazing discovery that helped the maritime world develop vastly. During this time everything was new, exciting and many more discoveries started taking place. It was an exciting time for all. It was around the 17th century B. C that this new world started to transpire. European ships were far better manufactured using a method known as planking. It was not until the 19th century that parts of Arctic and Antarctic oceans were found.
It had become the age of sail in which international trade and naval warfare were dominated by sailing ships. Beginning in the 15th and ending some time in the 18th century. The time also known as the golden age of Piracy which dominated the waters between 1650- 1720 brought with it some major bloody times in maritime history.
