Superior Cogeneration System
An exceptional quality of the Freewatt method is that it produces 12,000 btu's of heat, and 1.2 kw of electricity every hour. A great advantage of the Freewatt+ system is that it possesses back up power in the occurrence of a power failure. In the back up generation mode, the Freewatt+ will create 1.8 kw of electricity. Both the Freewatt and Freewatt+ perform as partners with either a Freewatt hydronic system, or a Freewatt warm air system. Both perform at 95% efficacy.
Once the heat in a house drops less than 40 to 45 degrees, 12,000 btu's of heat is inadequate to warm a household suitably. As the home requires heat, the 95% efficiency warm air furnace or hydronic boiler starts, and brings the residence up to the wanted warmth. The Honda combined heat and power Cogeneration System performs in tandem with the furnace or boiler and generates further electrical energy as well.
The 1.2 kw of electricity created each hour is not capable of giving power to an entire household, but in the homes that employ the Freewatt systems, the households have been invariably able to slash their electrical bills by half for the year. It has been validated that through the heating months, while the Honda MCHP is operating, the energy bills can be reduced to zero, and occasionally customers even obtain credit for the additional power created through the utility company. This is not as pertinent in the summer months, as the system runs less often, hence creating a reduced amount of electricity.
In homes and small commercial applications where the use of swimming pools, hot tubs, and domestic hot water is being utilized, the Honda MCHP will perform to send off the necessary heat load to those applications. This produces a higher demand to run the Freewatt in the summer months, making the Freewatt combined heat and power Cogeneration System even more important. Keep in mind that as long as the Honda MCHP is operating, it is generating usable electricity for the home.
