When people get jealous, they may say of do stupid things. They may do things that they are sorry for later when they are thinking more rationally. They may look childish, insecure, and make a fool of themselves because of their envy. Let's consider what makes people jealous enough to act out in these silly ways.

People sometimes get envious when someone has something that they want. This could be an item or a person. A girl could get jealous over another girl's boyfriend. A guy could get jealous over his friend's car. Sometimes people may even get envious when it is someone they love who has what they want.

People may get resentful when they think someone looks better than the do. How many times have we heard someone say, "I hate her because she is skinny"? This type of thinking is irrationally immature.

They may get resentful of someone else's attention. They may feel that a friend, brother, sister, cousin, co-worker, or anyone else gets more attention than they do. They feel this person is better liked since they get so much more attention.

People may get green-eyed over someone else's happiness. Sometimes people can not stand to see other people happy. This is such a bad way to feel since it will do nothing for you but make you unhappy.

Now we know what makes people jealous. Although there are many more reasons, these are some of the most obvious ones. People who get envious of other people really need to take some time to observe there own behavior. They need to understand what is causing these types of irrational feelings towards other individuals. They need to look at how wonderful life can be when they stop measuring their happiness to someone else's distress. Instead of getting envious over other peoples things or happiness, they should try to be more comforting to those who have less.
