There are many types of prophecies for the end of the world. In particular, the 2012 prophecies are of the type that have not been proven simply because the date has not yet passed. As such, before anyone can judge that the world will end or the world is safe is to wait for the date to pass.

Nearly every forum on the internet has at least one ongoing discussion regarding the 2012 end of the world and many bloggers include various discussions regarding the 2012 prophecies in the context of current world events.

The Mayan 2012 prophecies provide no details as to how the world will end. Simply put, December 21, 2012 is the date that Mayan calendar ends so many Mayan-prophecy adherents take that as an indication that the world will end on that date.

The actual details of the world's end change depending on who is looking at the information.
